If there is one thing I love more than anything else in all types of games, it's boss battles. That being said, I wanted to add even more boss battles in False Hearts so I recently acquired two more pieces.. These pieces were created by Luca Finotto and fit perfectly in the False Hearts universe.
A few changes you may have noticed is that the boss now known as "The Revenant" used to be a member of the "Kingsguard", but since we now have more fitting art for the Kingsguard, I decided to make a boss using this artwork.
Also, The Scheming Skeleton artwork may look familiar to you. This piece was commissioned by Kevin Dees for use in Six Forms XCG, but I also paid for permission to use this artwork in my projects. That being said, I thought it was very fitting to add the character that started this journey into the game.
Now that Summer 2024 is coming to a close I plan on working on False Hearts daily to try and finalize all the behind the scenes work. My goal is to get this product to the market in 2025.
Also, I'll once again be posting updates more frequently so make sure to check back in from time to time.

I am still waiting on the new batch of cards I ordered to arrive. Once I get them in hand, I plan on making a series of videos talking about the game itself and plans for the future.
I've really been slacking on playtesting lately (life has been pretty hectic), but now that it's Summer, I'll be setting more time aside to playtest so that I can hopefully get some of the new/updated rules and abilities finalized.
Also, the artwork in this post is artwork that I hope to fit in the game. I still have so many ideas that need to be fully fleshed out before I commit to that, but I wanted to share them with you.

As some of you may know bosses and classes in False Hearts have abilities called "Transcend Abilities". Think of these abilities as limit breaks from final fantasy (a one-time use ultimate ability).
Upon the completion of commissioning the artwork for False Hearts, I had a few pieces of unused alt-art for certain Bosses. I really wanted to come up with a way I could use this alt-art in the game so that more of Luca's work could be included in this project.
That being said, as of today The Noblewoman, Pious Paeon, and Damocles the Desecrated will now be printed as double sided cards that serve a specific function and purpose. When one of these Bosses Transcends, simply flip the card over to show all players that you have now use your transcend ability and you have gained a new set of abilities. This not only gives me a place to share this artwork with others, it also adds a new layer of gameplay.
Now let's get onto some progress updates!
After internal playtesting I've begun the painstaking process of reworking almost every skill in the game. There are a few reasons for this, but the biggest reason was that Classes didn't have enough abilities. I want you to have more options when you play, so that is my current focus at the moment.
I ordered a new batch of test prints using the lowest level of card stock Make Playing Cards offers. The reason for this is that I want to compare all three levels of quality (Smooth, Standard Smooth, Super Smooth) before I make a final decision.
I've commissioned one final piece of artwork from Luca. This one is pretty special and I can't wait to see what he does with it. I won't tell you what it is now but here is a hint: It is a pet that a certain class can summon. One of it's abilities is "Petrification Breath".
I've decided to use the acronym XCG instead of ECG because XCG seems to be the industry standard for Expandable Card Game.
I may hire an outside graphic designer to handle the skill card layout. It is somewhat beyond my skillset especially if I want it done right and I honestly do not have the patience or time to do page layout work.

I wanted to give you a quick update on what we've been working on over the past few weeks:

Added a new Boss to the game
Astral Aberration
The artwork for this Boss and their Skill card can be found on the Bosses page.
The addition of three new classes and a new boss bring the total card count to exactly 90 cards.

After playtesting we discovered that the HP of many Classes and Bosses was set too high, therefore we have reduce the HP of all Classes and Bosses. We will revisit this in the future if deemed necessary.
Fixed a few grammatical errors
Fixed a few spacing errors
Fixed the wording of a few skills to make them easier to understand
We also updated the rulebook to reflect the wording changes.
We are still working on the rulebook. Our goal is to have it finalized by Summer 2024.
